About Bolt
Bolt is a full-service Design + Build firm and fully insured General Contractor based in Brooklyn. We specialize in design-forward hospitality, retail, and residential projects that merge classical sensibility with innovative construction and fabrication methods. We believe that great design is only as strong as its execution — and that means being just as rigorous about budgets, schedules, and communication as we are about creative vision.
The Role
Bolt Builds is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Interior Design Intern to support our design and construction team across hospitality, retail, and residential projects. This role is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced design-build studio, learn directly from senior designers, and see their work move quickly from concept to construction.
As a Design Intern, you’ll participate actively in the studio, contribute creatively, and develop a strong foundation in design development, documentation, and professional studio practice.

- Design Development Support
- Assist with drafting, modeling, and rendering design concepts using Rhino, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Support the creation of presentation decks, mood boards, and visual narratives
- FF&E Research & Documentation
- Conduct product and materials research aligned with project budgets and creative direction
- Help maintain and organize FF&E schedules and supporting documentation under senior designer guidance
- Project Documentation
- Assist in maintaining drawing sets throughout design and construction phases
- Ensure files are organized according to Bolt’s documentation standards
- Studio Participation
- Attend team meetings, client presentations, and site visits as needed
- Take clear notes and follow through on assigned action items
- Material Library & Sample Management
- Help organize and maintain physical samples and material library updates
- Request samples and follow up with vendors for active projects
- Professional Standards
- Uphold Bolt’s core values of Accountability, Quality, Innovation, and Reliability
- Maintain a professional, proactive attitude with clients, vendors, and teammates
- Demonstrate strong communication, ownership, and eagerness to learn
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
- Strong interest in design-build environments and seeing projects through from concept to construction
- Working knowledge of Rhino, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite (or strong willingness to learn quickly)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to take direction, ask thoughtful questions, and follow through on tasks
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative studio environment
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn — with a positive, can-do attitude
- Passion for hospitality, retail, and thoughtfully designed spaces
